Jon completed a three-year Advanced Studies Program at The Yoga Room in Berkeley in 2006, studies with several senior Iyengar instructors in the Bay Area, and journeys to India regularly to practice yoga with the Iyengar family (the source of his yoga teaching). Jon’s classes are breath-infused and typically include longer holds and detailed instruction with poses that vary according to the lunar cycle: standing poses and twists with the new moon, forward bends as the moon fills, backbends as the moon wanes, and additional breath work or inversions as the moon disappears. Some populations Jon has instructed include children, seniors, athletes, cognitively-challenged, pregnant, injury-ridden, and fellow teachers. Jon also offers one-on-one instruction when requested, typically for injury recovery or cross-training. Besides yoga, Jon enjoys math, tennis, and guitar.
