Court Resurfacing for Quickstart Play

Posted on:August 19th, 2011 by Harbor Bay Club

Harbor Bay Club to become one of first No. California facilities with permanent Quickstart courts!

HBC has partnered with NorCal USTA to become Northern California’s leader in 10 and Under Tennis programming and USTA’s flagship facility for Quickstart Tennis, a revolutionary new way to learn the game of tennis for players of all ages.  As a result, HBC is proud to announce the conversion of Court 19 to four (4) permanent 36′ Quickstart courts designed for ages 10 and under, plus the resurfacing of Courts 11-18 with blended lines for Quickstart play.

Construction is complete!  Check out HBC’s Facebook Page for pictures of HBC’s new Quickstart court in action!

What this means for HBC Tennis members & guests:

  • HBC will be among No. California’s first 10 & Under Tennis facilities with permanent 36′ courts.
  • Courts 11-18 will be resurfaced regulation courts with blended lines for 36′ and 60′ modified Quickstart courts.
  • Court 19 will be resurfaced and converted to four (4) permanent 36′ Quickstart Tennis courts.

From Tennis Director Paul Torricelli, “We are thrilled that Harbor Bay Club will be among the first Bay Area facilities to install permanent 36 ‘ courts.  The USTA 10 & Under tennis initiative will have a tremendous impact on junior tennis and player development in this country.  Our goal is for HBC to be one of the focal points for 10 & Under Tennis in Norther California.

This court renovation project comes in time for HBC’s Junior Program Fall Session which starts September and the launch of HBC’s after-school Quickstart programming through its partnership with the AEF and USTA.

The Club's spa is the only place in Alameda where I can get my nails done, or any spa treatment, without having to arrange care for my kids. As a busy mom, that's HUGE for me.

- Maureen McFall

I love the balance of exercise and socializing that the Club offers. After a workout or spin cycle class, it's great to relax with friends and a glass of wine at the Clubhouse Bar & Grill.

- Mark Landreth

At my age my joints can't handle the stress of high impact exercise but the Club offers a wonderful range of non-impact options which keep me fit and feeling great.

- Michael Morgan

I've tried a lot of gyms and they're always cramped and dirty. I love how spacious and clean the Harbor Bay Club is and how friendly the members and staff are.

- Shirley Goodman

I have a challenging work schedule and travel a lot. With the Club's Spinners tennis program, I never have to call anybody to arrange a time to play tennis. It's perfect for me.

- Ming Chin

I love how comfortable and unintimidating the Club is. I don't feel like I have to have a supermodel's body to feel good about being here.

- Cheryl Landreth

Working out at the Club has been essential to managing my diabetes and stress. The Harbor Bay Club has saved my life.

- Eric Cross

I live in Orinda but come to the Club 4 times a week because Mike Bauer [the Tennis Director] is awesome. He's very patient and a great teacher. His knowledge is amazing... I mean the guy beat Jimmy Conners!
