Coming in February!!!

HBC is pleased to announce the coming arrival of HBC Online, the club’s new cloud-based club management system.  HBC Online will provide HBC the very latest technology tools and a vast array of benefits to HBC members and guests.

Once fully implemented HBC Online will include 24/7 account access, improved billing options, court reservations & appointment scheduling, registration for all HBC services from any computer or mobile device, and much more!  Integration with HBC’s website will make access to these features convenient and all features are processed through paperless methods to support HBC’s move towards greener business practices.

The full features of HBC Online will be introduced to members and implemented in stages throughout 2012. The first phase of implementation will occur in early February during which time all member account information will be converted to the new system.  Features which will be activated during this initial phase include:

• 24/7 Online account access/management
• Improved Online Appointment Scheduling & Court Reservations
• Billing/Auto-Pay Enhancement

In the coming weeks and months HBC members and guests will be hearing much more about the features, ease of use, and timing on this exciting new system.  An in-club kiosk is also planned for additional convenience.

Play for a Cure / Battle of the Dad Bands Raises $2,183!

And what great fun it was!  On Oct. 8th, with the sun shining on a typically beautiful Indian Summer day, seven (7) local Alameda bands each gave a spirited 20 minute performance on HBC’s “Hot” tennis court while guests danced, enjoyed great food and drinks from local vendors, and cast their votes.

The cost for each vote cast was $1 and all proceeds from voting, as well as the revenue from drink tickets and event registration, will be donated to the Susan B. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research.

Congratulations to The Bad Dads who won the grand prize which includes a one-month club membership for all band members, a $500 BBQ event gift certificate and a $100 drink certificate.  A big thank you to all participating bands who rocked the house!!!!

Raffle helps fund key incentive prizes to keep Alameda kids MOVING!

The Let’s Move Alameda online raffle, sponsored by the Harbor Bay Club and launched earlier this summer after its planned event was canceled due to weather, raised $1,402.65 for the new and exciting community mission which seeks to help improve Alameda kids’ health by keeping them “moving” through fitness and nutrition awareness and incentives.

Winners of the $5,400 in raffle prizes, donated by the Harbor Bay Club, were announced at the Sept. 10th Webster Street Jam which culminated Let’s Move Alameda’s inaugural summer season.

Representing Let’s Move Alameda, Jim Franz of Alameda’s Youth Collaborative says: “Thanks to HBC, the Let’s Move Alameda task force was able to provide 12 Prize Drawing gift certificates (ranging from $25 to $100) to Alameda Bicycle, Big 5 Sports, Doumitts Shoes, the Webster Street Farmers Market, and Dan’s Produce.  In addition, a $10 Big 5 Gift certificate is being mailed to all youth who turned in their Activity Journals, as a reward for completing the program. We thank the HBC for their support and their commitment to the health and wellness of Alameda Youth”.

A great concert by Alameda’s own Pavlov’s Kats, awesome food & beverages, an outdoor dance class and idyllic weather combined to create a special anniversary party for HBC last Saturday, Aug. 13th, while raising $2,900 for the Rotary Club of Alameda.  A big Thank You to all attendees, the many local merchants who donated prizes to the silent auction, and to all of the local participating vendors for their help in supporting a truly vital community cause:

$5,730 Raised for Music & Arts in Alameda Schools!

Backed by a great crowd and spectacular weather, the Sun Kings concert hosted by HBC on July 3rd raised $5,730 for the Alameda Education Foundation (AEF) to support music and arts in Alameda’s public schools through the All Together Now mission.  The food and beverages, all provided by local restaurants and vendors, were great and the Sun Kings were firing on all cylinders; the last choruses to Hey Jude, as people danced on the lawn against a beautiful sunset on a rare balmy Alameda evening, capped a truly special day at HBC.

A big THANK YOU to all attendees and online raffle purchasers for their help in supporting a truly vital community cause.

Join us for a good old fashioned summer concert on the green with a special performance by acclaimed Beatles tribute band, the Sun Kings, as we celebrate and support music, drama & arts in Alameda’s public schools.  This All Together Now event, produced by Drew Harrison of the Sun Kings, Peter Fletcher and the Alameda Education Foundation (AEF), will kick off its 2011 season of bringing the community together to keep music and arts alive in our schools.  This promises to be a very special day of great music, dancing, food from local restaurants, wine & beer from local vintners & brewers.  All proceeds go to support arts education in Alameda’s public schools.  Click here for more info.

A great time was had by ALL.

Thank you to all of our members who came out for the club’s 8th Annual French Open Mixer on Sunday May 22nd. We had a fun morning of tennis with a French pot luck and some wonderful weather! Lucky participants walked away with prizes including our top court prize of a bottle of French red wine:

If you missed out on the fun, you can join us for our upcoming Wimbledon Mixer on Sunday June 19th from 10am – 1pm! Remember to wear your all-whites! You can sign up by emailing Andy Tupman at andy@harborbayclub, or visiting the Tennis Board at the club.

As a courtesy to our members and guests the Harbor Bay Club provides bike racks allowing you to park and secure your bikes. The protection of your bike, however, is your responsibility. HBC does not guarantee the security of the bikes. We have installed a surveillance camera; however this is only a deterrent.

Over the years we have had bikes stolen from the bike racks, and in most cases it was due to the lack of a proper locking device. Cable locks are not sufficient to stop bikes from being stolen. It is strongly recommended that you secure your bike with a good quality D lock such as Kryptonite. This is considered to be the most effective lock to secure your bike. You might also want to check with your insurance company to make sure that your locking device is in compliance with your policy requirements.

We also want to ask all of members and guests to be on the watch for any suspicious activity and report it immediately to Harbor Bay Club staff.
