Harbor Bay Club Pool Rules

Posted on:April 27th, 2009 by Harbor Bay Club

WHEN NO LIFEGUARD IS ON DUTY State Law requires that children under the age of 14 must be supervised by an adult while using the swimming pool. Children under the age of 14 must be supervised at all times by an adult while using the hot tub. When lifeguards are on duty they will be clearing the pool and outdoor hot tub of children under the age of 14 every hour on the hour for 10 minutes. Thank you for your cooperation.

Pool Rules

1. Children under age 14 must be accompanied by an adult (over age 18) to use the swimming pool or hot tub when there is no lifeguard on duty. This is a California State Law as well as a Club rule.

2. Even with lifeguards present, children age 10 and under must have their Harbor Bay Club “Safe Swimmer Badge” with them at the pool; otherwise, an adult must be in attendance with the child at all times. Club lifeguards are available to test children for these badges. All other children, regardless of age who have not tested water safe, must be attended by an adult.

3. When the lifeguard is off duty, all unattended children under age 14 must clear the pool and vacate the area.

4. Non-swimmers playing on the pool steps are required to have an adult sitting at the edge of the pool, watching them, even when a lifeguard is on duty. Non-swimmers that leave the steps are required to have an adult in the water with them.

5. Hanging, sitting or playing on the lane markers is prohibited.

6. All drinks on the pool deck must be in non-breakable containers. No glass is allowed in the pool area.

7. All swimmers must wear appropriate swim attire while in the pool. Cutoffs and/or T-shirts are prohibited.

8. Running, rough play, balls, Frisbees, water guns or other toys are prohibited in or around the pool.

9. Only front jumps are permitted. Absolutely no diving is allowed.

10. Children’s pull-floats, air mattresses and boats are not allowed in the pool. Kick boards are allowed in lap lanes for swimming purposes only.

11. Children wearing water wings or supported by other flotation devices must have an adult in the water with them at all times.

12. Children in diapers must be wearing a swim diaper at all times when in the pool.

13. When lifeguards are on duty, they will be clearing the pool and outdoor hot tub of children under the age 14 every hour on the hour for 10 minutes. This will be a reminder for the children to use the restroom, and it is mandatory that they leave the water. Adults and children in swim lessons will no be required to get out of the pool.

14. Failure to adhere to the above rules or additional rules posted in the pool area will result in expulsion from the pool area for the remainder of the day. Only one (1) warning will be given.

The safety of your children is the paramount concern of our staff. When there is no lifeguard on duty, we would appreciate parent cooperation with the rules. Thank you for your support.
